Byakuren no Fangu / Fangs of Purity
The title of 白蓮のファング / Byakuren no Fangu can translate to several things and is open to debate. It has commonly been translated to Fang of the White Lotus, but that isn't all it can mean. The kanji for "byakuren" (白蓮) can also mean "purity" or "purity of heart," so the title could alternatively be Fangs of Purity, Purity's Fangs, or Fangs of a Pure Heart.
*All fighting dogs in the manga have 号 (gou) at the end of their names. This is not part of their actual name; this is to title them as a contestant in the ring. Because of this, we're not going to add 号 at the end of the every name.
*-maru (丸) is a very common name suffix that is still used today. Although we give the meaning of 'perfection' for it, -maru is not used for any specific meaning. It is seen as a very honorable name suffix because it was common for samurai to have, and also to give to their weapons. In real Japanese dog fighting, -maru is a popular name suffix for both male and female contestants.
