Hi everyone,
I think the community here deserves some transparency about the management of this site and what scanlations will look like moving forward. As some of you know, our long-time admin stopped managing this site early in the year due to personal reasons. Since then administration has been a bit of a mess and no one on the previous admin team has really stepped forward to take on a primary role. Therefore, as you have seen, updates and communication is sporadic at best or otherwise just don't happen.
On the scanlation side, our mode of operation has had a major shift. Many of the team members don't feel very connected to Ginga stories anymore, have other important priorities like health, family, school, and work, and don't like the pressure of feeling obligated to complete work on a regular schedule because of those. We will be finishing GNG, however I cannot give you an estimate on time for when it will all be finished, or even when chapters or volumes will be finished and shared. Just know that we fully intend on finishing it, even if it takes a long time. Future plans for translating anything other than GNG are up in the air. I will have to guess that most projects will not be worked on, and if they are, updates will be very, very slow. I'm also not sure whether we will be releasing new material as chapters or volumes, but despite my reluctance to do moderation work, I will work with Ace to make sure that the new GNG material gets shared here in some form when it is finished.
At this time I do not want members asking about applying for or filling in for admin, mod, and scanlation help. As a scanlation team, we have a solid handful of people and we are very functional. As for the site, the GingaScan founders have pretty much moved on--and being probably the oldest member here other than them, honestly I have too--but I personally would be very uncomfortable with people I don't know taking over, managing, and continuing the GingaScans site and name without them around.
I'm sorry that you all have been in the dark as far as the administration team goes. I know it's been very confusing and it wasn't very fair of us to drop the ball. I have always had a very minor mod role and mostly helped with scanlations, and this is not what I wanted to see happen to the site. Other than working on posting links for new material, I will not be performing any management roles. You are free to ask me questions, but I may not respond.
I will make it my responsibility to post here if something very unexpected happens and GNG cannot be completed, or if something else happens and the scanlation team is no longer functional or will not be publishing any more work.
Best,
Kausza
