Some of my thoughts as I worked on the volume ouo :

It’s a little sad seeing old Sasuke and seeing how normal he used to be. Now he’s just… no.

At page 39, I noticed this was Weed’s first time using ‘ore’ to describe himself instead of ‘boku’, but then he later uses boku… I guess he was feeling pretty manly at that part LOL

Pg 41 - hmmm, I like this idea… Weed being threatened and Kyoshiro sees through his facade and helps him~

Pg 46 whooaaa, kyoshiro LOL; going a bit crazy there.

Pg 77-78, the black dog’s japanese word he used to describe kyoshiro’s epic faceplant was translated as “suicide bombed”. I was like “WTFWAT”

Pg 117 Owff, Kyoshiro why are you sharing these bad messages to children djoidjsidjidsjds

I can really appreciate Mel’s dedication and growth c: I’m proud of him

Pg 125 I really wish I understood ‘I’ pronouns in japanese more. Akame used “watashi” at first, then “ore” in the next bubble. Like…for what purpose? More serious vs not that serious? I WANNA UNDERSTANNDDD

Pg 165 T-T Kouta’s dream of kyoshiro making a world of peace for kids … just so cute QQQ____QQQ

I liked Kyo showing his belly as an act of submission. For a dog manga, dog body language is rare, so that's a nice change.
And he's the best big bro, his intentions are good even if he's still a kid himself so he makes mistakes (let me pretend that's the intention).

Hey, reading through some GNG stuff, I forgot to realize Bill the doberman was a mountain bandit... and so were those dogs that attacked mel! I used the word brigand though, but same thing.
I wanted to use the words the two kanjis meant separated, which was like mountain pirates LOL how awesome is that ? Buuuttt I decided against it u~u

-Uhmm… If the dobermen have like actual razor sharp fangs, shouldn’t kyoshiro have been decapitated as soon as Thunder grabbed him, and especially when Thunder used kyoshiro as a weapon to hit weed… aw well, dumb down the ‘oh-so-scary assassins from the underworld” I guess .3.;



-Pg 34 UHHHH JEROME. You’re going a bit far there LOL;;;; one in a thousand chance? There’s more akitas than just gin and weed…



-Sheesh, they’re act like ‘Bearhound blood’ is a superdrug or something LOL;;;;;; exclusive to just akitas despite the other dogs that can hunt bears



-Ya know, for a buncha “Scary pro assassins”, feared by all in the ‘Underworld’/black market place, Jerome finding them a serious threat, and trained by Sniper, they’re really. Really pathetic. They get beat by 1 year olds and barely get a scratch on them. Only one puny hit kills the abusive dad but not anything to the others. Don’t make them sound so dangerous if they’re so weak, Yoshi. Plz.



-The scene Kyoshiro has after coming back from visiting the grave was really nice. Probably one of the chill-est feeling scenes of the ginga series.

-Idk about akitas in general, but in GNG, it was stated that brindle/tora-ge/tiger-striped akitas are the best to hunt with

I enjoyed this volume. You can actually feel Kyoushirou's inner struggle about whether certain people can truly change for the better. It fits since he's so young. Having an open mind is the mark of a good leader in my opinion. I know a lot of people didn't like the idea of everyone making Teru forgive his abusive father, and I agree. Admittedly though I think the whole point of it is just telling people to love and respect their parents even if they're not always great. It's not a bad lesson just it can get a little warped when taken through the Extreme Ginga Machine. Can't wait until the next volume. I always wanted to actually read the Tesshin meeting in the manga as I know it's really different. P.S. I really like how you faded the text for inner monologues. It's really creative.

And Yoshi expects me to believe that Kyoshiro would applaud this. LOL

ALSO the narration really, really keeps insisting that Teru's father changed thanks to Weed's actions. Teru's dad is never shown admiring Weed or seeing Weed as the source of what's proper. The only ones that affect him are Kyoshiro and Jerome!



But of course the one who gets credit for it all is Weed. Plus, Teru's father's actions are mainly shown to be driven more by SHAME and peer pressure than of love.'
And not even going to begin with how wrong is the whole "Oh if only I could've seen that my father who killed my brother and mother could've changed! Me and my bros should had sat him down and taken him to a doggy therapist instead!" /end rant

I agree that I liked Kyoshiro's development here. He's definitely one of the few to have an actual personality growing in this arc alone...too bad it's gone now :C

Wow, that's... disgusting. Weed would rather give murderers, thieves, spies, assassins, child abusers, and heartless tyrants a second chance to change but as soon as it's his 4 month old son, he'd rather banish them into the wild alone. WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK ;;; WOW. I never took the time to sit there and think about that but I see where Sirius gets his psychoticness from. It took Izou speaking up for Orion to actually get a guardian for his exile too. HE'S JUST FOUR MONTHS, WEED. WTF?

Also I did notice that Teru's dad got pressured into this than actually caring, otherwise he would have ran off and let his son die without a care in the world. But I didn't realize it being Jerome's and Kyoshiro's fault and not Weed's...wow. I mean, yeah Weed is the reason he didn't die, but he ISN'T the reason he change. He made the ball roll, but hey...so did the assassins and we're not giving them credit, right? So ... yeah, typical Yoshi. Just like it's all Gin's fault alone that Riki got 1000+ dogs to follow him to fighting bears? Yeah, ok LOL

Kyoshiro's dad was definitely a lost cause. He KILLED. his month old kid and abused his wife who kept telling the kids to behave towards their father. He... he couldn't be redeemed. I'm sorry Kyo but no.



edit: to add to the Teru's dad thing, he kept calling Teru an actual 'brat', whenever brat shows up in the text. He uses the word 'gaki', which everyone kept using pretty aggressively, to refer to his son until he actually calls him 'son' after being insulted by Lector, saying he has no guts. So it really was just for him to feel better about himself than him loving Teru.

I think Orion was 6 months? But anyway, that's pretty stupid, especially when Orion attacked Masamune to protect everyone.
Not to mention Jerome who killed the foxhounds (the dobermans in the anime) to protect Weed and his pack. If one grants bad guys second chances and banishes allies, it kind of makes you wonder who the real bad guy is...
