銀牙伝説ウィード外伝 / Ginga Densetsu Uiido Gaiden translates into Silver Fang Legacy Weed Side-Stories
メルの旅立ち / Meru no Tabidachi can translate to Mel/Mer's Journey
シオンの疾風 / Shion no Kaze is a bit trickier. As confirmed in the story, the puppy's name is Zion - as in the Jerusalem city - and "疾風" is "gale" or "winds". We decided it would be more poetic and Biblical to translate it to Winds of Zion due to a final line in the story.
ロンリー-ロン / Lonely Ron.
Hanako is in English.
Mel's Journey Names:
- Alexander アレキサンダー
- Big ビグ
- Jodie ジョディー
- Lewis ルイス
- Mercedes メルセデス
- Nishi 西 West
- Peter ピーター

Winds of Zion Names:
- Billy ビリー
- Kenta 健太 “Healthy/Strength” “Thick/plump”
- Kinumaru 絹丸 / Shiro Silk Perfection. Very unusual, as -maru is a name suffix exclusively for males. Do we even need to tell you what ‘shiro’ means at this point?
- Lad ラッド Can also be Rad / Rudd / Ludd
- Ouno 大野 Big Field
- Ryou 亮 Clearness
-Shingo 真悟 True Enlightenment
- Yousuke 洋介 Ocean Shellfish
- Zion シオン Mentioned specifically by Yousuke, the name was taken from the biblical and historical land, Zion, often used as a synonym for Jerusalem, and is specifically connected to the Israelites. In contrast to what Takahashi’s translation for the name is, Zion may mean “castle/fortress” or “dry land,” and comes from the Hebrew root ṣiyôn. Other spelling of Zion are Sion or Tzion.
--
Hanako Names:
Hanako ハナコ / 花子 Likely “flower child.” This is further proved by the fact her name is now written in kanji in "My Time with Hanako" in a novel dedicated to Yoshihiro, "Yoshihiro Takahashi's "Wanting to Live with Dogs.""
Kevin ケビン
Mr. Takahashi 高橋さん Yoshihiro Takahashi’s first name is in hiragana and it is therefore difficult to determine its meaning, but his last name means “tall bridge.”
