Chani ginga.wikia.com/wiki/John Under trivia. I know Ginga Wiki is not the most reliable >_> but it seems pretty Yoshi-esque, given the reasons he killed off other characters. Perhaps there's some interview from Finland somewhere where he says it? I don't know. I looked through interviews, but saw no mention of that. That doesn't make much sense to me, since Jerome and John were never even seen together. They were in completely different places and they don't even look that similar in the first place. I know a lot of the English-speaking fans on youtube did...(based on yt comments on amv's and what not), and I know sometimes I did too, but I was also like 12 when I first watched GDW. It doesn't seem too unlikely to me.

I shall then retract my rant about Andy's death, even though he's still a tool, but Yuki and Joe's stand, thanks for the info, Chani (I seriously can't trust any info on GDWO I find these days).
The ginga wiki has several 'trivia' in it with absolutely no sources, so I wouldn't doubt someone just made that up, even though I also wouldn't doubt Yoshi would treat his own characters like that. I really don't like going by rumors anyway unless there's some actual proof. The English fans also claimed more than half of the characters with incorrect names and swore up and down that Yukimura was a kind and noble hero until Chani here actually took the moment to read the manga and prove everyone how horrible he was.

For me Kisaragi's death in GDWO was unnecessary and degrading of such a character. I can't think of any other main character who had such a cheap death.

Oh god, I totally forgot about Kisaragi's death... I guess that stands as a tribute to how lackluster it actually was. I agree, that was completely awful. Even though I've never liked Kisaragi at all, having him die like that seemed like a terrible way to treat an original Ohu soldier that had been around since the Akakabuto arc. (Even though he had, like... three lines in GDW, and only in the manga...)
I mean... sitting around waiting for your sons to get back and getting ambushed because you wanted to jump out of the snow cavern and meet the people threatening you, head on, but then dying instantly because you were too old and couldn't jump all the way up and got stuck...? Yyyyeah... Totally a great death, on par with Ginga standards...
I get that it was supposed to be a motivator for Izou to join the war, but that kind of falls flat on its face when the Kurohabaki also killed Izou's wife and children, horribly. He spent way more time on finding all his massacred kids strewn about the area than he did over his father's body, so that pretty much makes Kisaragi's death for cheap feels and nothing more... I'm sensing a pattern here.
On the note of GDWO deaths, I'd have to say Kamajirou (middle brother of Kamakiri's sons) deserves a spot here, as well. Think whatever you want about the Kama-brothers, but Sirius had a real bond with them, and from my understanding, Kamajirou and Kurokama were pretty gentle with him. You probably wouldn't call them "nice," but they were nothing like Akakama, and judging by some of the pages I've seen, stopped their eldest brother from beating the kid up for not wanting to kill their enemies. Kamajirou was also supposed to be the closest to acting kind, and tried to take care of the whole army when possible (I haven't read enough to confirm this, but it's what I've heard buzzing around.) So of COURSE, even knowing that Sirius had a bond with them, Orion decided to have his army Battouga Kamajirou's head in. The guy suffered for a while with seizures and intense pain before dying horribly. I think there's something to be said when your entire army gives you a proper burial and mourns, when you were supposed to be a villain...
But of course, this all becomes pointless when literally nothing is learned from it, and everyone joins Ohu - the very people who killed him - and everything is hunky dory... Except Akakama, who refuses to join, in a justified rage, but of course HE'S the dick in this situation. And then of course, he joins Ohu later, anyway, after getting a small pep-talk from Weed and then being saved by Orion after trying to essentially kill himself. Hmmm... Whose fault was that again, in the first place? Oh well, not important. Ohu justice always outweighs any meaning your brother's death might have carried for any character! Hooray!
