"銀牙伝説赤目 / Ginga Densetsu Akame (AKAME)" is translated on the cover as "Legend of Silver Fang Akame," which isn't very accurate. A better translation would be "Silver Fang Legend: Akame" or "Silver Fang Legacy: Akame." Akame's name is also given in all-caps English.
Names:
- Akame 赤目
Red Eyes. It is possible that Akame was named after the '48 Waterfalls of Akame' or 'Akame Shijuuhachi Taki / Akame Shijuuhattaki', a mountain area between the Mie and Nara Prefectures. 赤目四十八滝 means 'Red-Eyes' Forty-Eight Waterfalls', but there are not literally forty-eight of them; it is a phrase that is used to mean a lot of waterfalls in a small area. However, no actual source of evidence we have found yet has proven that this is where Akame's name comes from.

In real history, the Iga and Kouga Clans had no blood feud, at least not a permanent one, and fought alongside each other when helping other allied clans. The Iga and Kouga also had schools where they were taught called Iga-ryuu (伊賀流 "Iga School") and Kouga-ryuu (甲賀流 "Kouga School"). The Iga and Kouga were made up of several family clans, usually by 'ronin', samurai mercenaries who were not under a lord's rule and fought for whom they chose.
