Dear people of Ginga Scans. I am about to face a problem... soon I want to order the Ginga Densetsu Weed Orion manga from ebay, but it will be in Japanese... problem is, I am Dutch! I don't understand a word Japanese! Is someone willing to send me to a site that translates or to translate it for me? I have my own scanner, so as soon as I have it, I will scan pages as best as I can for you to translate. My English is good, as you can see, so it would be best if you could translate it to that. It doesn't have to be perfect! I am willing to work it out together.
Thanks in advance

However, I asked for permission from GS to let me translate their scans into my native language (Latin Spanish), and they agreed! Maybe you can ask them too and see for yourself! I think someone else here was granted permission to translate into French... Good luck!

We do not just translate an entire series out of one request. We are working on four other major series at this time and GDWO is far from our list because its predecessors are very long and in higher demand. We are working on Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Shiroi Senshi Yamato, and Byakuren no Fangu, and Yoshihiro's latest story: Ginga Densetsu Akame. We have many more stories, plus Ginga Densetsu Weed, which is 60 volumes, after Ginga Nagareboshi Gin.
If you look around the GDWO section as a member, we have a section of all of our uploaded scanlations, and we are sharing the first 17 RAW volumes for free download for anyone to use, meaning they are already scanned volumes with the original Japanese text, but no, we are not translating GDWO at this time. We only have one translator and none of us are getting paid to do any of this, so you can use those RAWs up for download in any way you want, but we can't just drop all of our other projects to work on another huge series, sorry.
No other Ginga sites are working on GDWO, either, except for very few snippets of sections, or sharing text summaries if they cannot scan.

Anonymous Ginga Fan: Because there is more demand for other stories than GDW:O, and because most of those stories in high demand are very long, I don't think GDW:O will be translated anytime soon. It will have it's turn, though, just not now. The only thing I recall being translated here that is GDW:O-related is the Map from Volume 17, and some fight scenes in GingaBoard, another Ginga site.

Thanks for your reply!

I was wondering if someone who happens to work was willing to translate a volume for me (which I am still trying to get my hands on). I won't be having them all in once, just one by one through the course of a LOT of months. I can't find different forums where I can ask this question, that's why I went here. I certainly do not want you dropping all your work just for me! That's just not right. It's really only personal, and it will take a while. I simply can't translate them myself, and I don't know anyone who can personally (nor digitally). I am just searching for someone. Thank you for your reply!

This is a small update from my orignal question. I have ordered a copy of the first volume and it will arrive in a couple of days. I noticed some confusion about what I asked for. I am looking for someone to personally translate pages to English for me, for personal use only. In other words, it will never reach the internet! It is just for me so I can actually read it. It's not a project, nor do I want people to drop their daily businesses just for me. I can't find any other place to ask this question without getting loaded with 'illegal business' stuff. The copy is fully legal and I do want it up on the internet or anything like that. It won't leave my computer screen. There will be no deadline, we all have our normal routines of work/school and personal life, and I understand and respect that. Hope this clears things up!

Like I said, we have literally one translator and she doesn't have the time to scanlate an entire volume that only one person would see, but as for other people who translate, I personally don't know of any. No one else in the fandom seems to be working on anything either, I don't think you could even pay anyone to do translations for you because no one seems to either be legit, or have the time to do it, or the proper knowledge of Japanese. I haven't heard of anyone working on GDWO or any of the other stories so I unfortunately cannot give you any names to help you find anyone, sorry.
((No, what you're asking and doing is not illegal, don't worry about it. Only if you were trying to sell any translated volumes to others would it be illegal.))

I would suggest posing the question to members of GingaBoard. I cannot guarantee anyone will be willing to help you there but it's another Ginga site that gets a lot of traffic. If this is something you really want to do, I would also suggest looking outside of the Ginga fandom. There are few people who could translate it for you let alone have the time/willingness to do so. GDWO is very unpopular compared to GNG or GDW. On the other hand, there are plenty of people who are fluent in Japanese on the internet and in the world who can translate something like this for you. It would probably cost money (I'm not sure how much), but you could always ask around, esp. students in university for example who would have fun/learn/be okay with a lower pay grade vs. professional work. Otherwise you could always try to learn Japanese yourself if you are interested enough

I can totally understand that it would simply be too much work. I will keep looking for other people who have the time and knowledge. Thank you for your help! (whew, I'm glad to hear that! Now I can try more sites than I initially intended to)

It's possible that we'll get to GDWO eventually, but it won't be for years. So you could stick around, but who knows - you might find something sooner, by asking around online. Like M-92 Mantis said, I really don't have the time or energy to do a series for someone else, between what I have to do for this site. And this site will always come first. We're not trying to be mean or anything, we just really don't have the time or manpower to do things on the side. I hope you can find someone who does, though!

I'll keep looking thank you! (I am still considering actually taking lessons in Japanese reading, just so I can read the Manga's myself... doesn't sound like a bad idea anymore! *sigh* I am so desperate :I)

I bet I'll find someone sooner or later, I'll just keep searching! ^^ Thank you all very much for your help!

OP, if you're still around, I found a thread on GingaBoard with the first volume of GDWO scanlated and ready for download. It seems like they will be working on more than one volume, so I would keep tabs on it.
