ALL PICTURES HAVE BEEN ADDED AND THE STORIES ARE IN THE CORRECT ORDER. STILL WORKING ON THE GNG CHAPTER OPENING TEXT TRANSLATION.
This is another rare little collector’s item I found with the Downfall of the Wolf Empire omnibus. However, this is the real deal: it’s a classic Shounen/Shonen Jump that was made and distributed on April 21st, 1986. It is the 19th issue of the Shounen Jump Weekly. The front cover is fully colored with Gin and Ohu facing off against the mysterious wolves of the Underworld Empire; this is the debut chapter of Ohu finally meeting the silhouettes of the wolves through their archaic symbols whispering through the trees and Ohu recalling that wolves are considered mountain demons. It contains a full chapter in it. The cover says, “黄金の悪魔が牙をむく!” “The Golden Devil Bares his Fangs!” The red text flanking the wolf below it says, “第2部金狼編!!” “Part Two of the Golden Wolf Compilation!!” The Golden Wolf is Fuuga, Retsuga’s father and the one who taught Riki the Zetsu Tenrou Battouga. The rest of the multicolored text on the cover are ads and hooks for the other stories included inside the Jump. I’ll give a list of all the stories included and tons of pictures below. Front CoverSpineBack Cover. This is by far my favorite part of the entire book. Heat with you!!

Wow, very interesting find thank you for offering an insight glimpse. It's especially funny since it introduces the Wolf Arc. I'm curious, anyone know how well/bad the readers received this arc? I'm just wondering since the arc is short (at least in Yoshi terms) and he wasn't inclined to stretch GNG over +40 volumes. The Beattles ad makes me giggle!

Ace Don't quote me, but I seem to recall Yoshi mentioning in a Q&A (I think it was at the Finnish convention?) that the wolf arc sold well and was quite well received by Japanese fans. Which begs the question of why he decided to completely exclude that it ever happened, in GDW. But he admitted that he himself never wanted to do a second arc, and wasn't fond of the wolves. I believe he was pressured to add it by the higher-ups. Can you imagine just chillin', reading 80's manga while listening to the Beatles? Man, Japan had it good. *So jelly*

I think after seeing how he has treated the GNG sequels, the idea of Yoshi wanting to stop almost sounds... uncanny. Well, I've never read the wolf arc, so I can't offer my opinion about it. It's just weird that it wasn't included in the GNG anime, but then I heard from somewhere the anime was "cut short" so Toei could focus on the Dragon Ball anime. Next chapter that comes out... I'm reading that while listening to the Beatles, just sayin'.

He's canonically confirmed as gold, in the manga. Also, Shounen Jump magazines are a serialization for multiple mangas, not ever just one. Usually chapters are released weekly or monthly, depending, and they are published in Shounen Jump before they ever get released into book volume form. There are other magazines that do this, like Goraku, but Shounen Jump is top of the line.
