The manga is also making me realize that I have opinions on characters whom I was indifferent on before. Kisargi along with Riki I didn't care about in the anime, but reading the manga makes me really not like either of them. Similarly I didn't care much for Moss or Akame in the anime, but they're definitely two of my favourites in the manga-verse. Can you elaborate on this please? Especially Kisaragi and Riki, although they have a bigger role, I don't see them doing anything that different from the anime. I'm not sure. It's been a few years since I saw the anime so maybe my opinion has just changed on them. It's just a general dislike for the both of them. I suppose I can't be sure unless I re watched the anime.

Not really, I don't like a lot of characters in the anime that I did like in the manga, and vice versa. I also don't like Kisaragi or Riki, though manga Riki I can tolerate better, but I still don't see Kisaragi or the other Kings being benevolent at all, nor would I trust them since they built their entire army out of kidnapping and starving people to death until they submitted.

Hakurou came up with the same plan as Riki and Gin! Hakurou MUST be Riki's long lost brother and Gin's uncle! :megustabishieplz: (since apparently only the holy Ohu leader family can come up with such brilliant ideas) I feel like Hakuro would be like Cousin It from the Addams' Family... Good old crazy uncle Hakuro... Now that would be an amazing sitcom. To join the discussion on Riki and Kisaragi. Well, the Mutsu generals always interested me because of their design, and there was plenty of things left unsaid in the anime. Not saying Yoshi completely explains how their rule works in the manga, but I feel like Kisaragi gets more of a character in the manga. The scene where he sees his dead sons had great potential, but his mancrush on Terry sorta overshadows a lot of his character and potential development.

Good grief, Kisaragi’s ugly sons are horrible! Poor baby Tesshin! I wonder why they left this scene out of the anime. I’d like to think that Kisa wasn’t really going to stand by and let Chibi get maimed. Maybe he’d have stepped in once he figured Terry was loyal?
Ugh, so, he Mutsu arc and Terry’s final stand is one of my favorite parts of the anime, but in the manga it REALLY falls flat. The pacing was awkward, with random cuts to the others in cars (and a random breaking of the fourth wall with ‘it’s like we’re in a manga’), the dogs’ cheering for Terry from the gorge felt too distanced from them getting fed up and charging the Kings’ army – I prefer the anime having it cut straight to the point – then there’s more lag with Gin and co’s conversation, where they could have had them show up after a bit more suspense instead of explaining everything they’re about to do. Finally, I don’t like Kisaragi leading the attack on the bears. It was more emotionally charged in the show where he gets inspired by seeing the Ou soldiers climb the canyon walls to fight the bears. Nice to see his asshole kids got murdered, though.
I do like Oliver, the little smartass, and I always love Benizakura’s random declaration of himself as the ‘true king of Mutsu.’ Whatever, Beni.
And then Cross pops out some babies at a weird time… again, really preferred how they did it in the anime. Moss fawning over the pups is adorable, though. Honestly, this whole Mutsu scene is definitely my least favorite part of the manga so far.
Bemu gets a better story here, at least.
Huh, even the Mutsu kings are looking starry-eyed over the pups. A little weird.
And THERE is my sociopathic asswipe Akame. ‘Don’t let him drink any milk!’ Sigh.
Suddenly John is leading six freaking hundred dogs. The humans wondering if it meant an earthquake was coming was a nice touch, though.
And once more Yoshi shows he has no clue how quickly puppies open their eyes. How long have they been waiting there?
I love crazy, cackling Hakurou. That’s… pretty much all there is to say about him, though. Like so many dogs, he deserved a lot more development.
I still don’t believe that six hundred dogs could make the mountains rumble, but I like the dramatic effect.
Since when did Gin and Ben’s group get to over one thousand, though??
Haha, did Ben and Riki plan out this dramatic ‘appearing against the moon’ thing or what?
Gin wishing he could hug Riki and be comforted and stuff is nice, as is the reminder that he is still only a child. But what the hell is Gin thinking, jumping at Akakabuto (or is that Gaki?) like that?
Why put Wilson as a suicide corps guy instead of Musashi or Bill or someone actually battle-proven? Why a circus dog? Why. Also, sending Benizakura in to his expected death taking down Akakabuto’s minions seems like a bad idea, when he’d be much more valuable fighting Akakabuto himself.
Lollll Hyena WTF??? The wasp larvae thing is really weird as hell. But yeah, he sure got his personality ruined in the anime. I guess they thought his death would be more dramatic if he'd been a coward the whole series.
Huh, were they going to keep Cross’ pups a secret from Riki or something? And WHAT is with Ben’s little seizure of rage at being told not to fight? Glad that was left out of the anime, too.
Not the strongest volume, this one.

I don't even. Thank you anyway! I shall have to read it soon and enjoy you guys' hard work.
