This link will give you a .zip file. If a link is dead or broken, please let us know here so we can fix it immediately. Thank you! Uploaded on December 20th 2015-- THIS IS THE FINALE OF THE AKAKABUTO ARC! THE NEXT CHAPTER WILL BEGIN THE HAKKENSHI ARC WITH THE WOLVES!
Once we transfer everything to our 2.0 site, active members who have been with us to reach the end of Akakabuto's run will be given an exclusive silver trophy with Riki on it, to signify the end of the first ruler of Ohu. Ginga Scans wants to thank all of our supporting members for sticking with us and giving us the feedback we needed to continue our scanlations. We only have this volume and two more to go to finish the entirety of the Ginga Nagareboshi Gin series, and begin our newest project: Ginga Densetsu Weed! Merry Christmas to everyone, happy holidays, and stay safe during New Year's!

Big thanks to everyone on the team for helping with translation and typesetting. It's been awesome working towards achieving this major goal!
I gotta say it's interesting to see Riki foreshadowing the wolves... I always liked his very sentimental speech to Gin in the anime, so I'm a little sad that more sentiment was not included. Also, love how Riki essentially died because Riki and Gohei forgot the basic rules.... Smooth.

Still odd that they decided to put the final chapter of the arc as the first chapter of a volume... but I digress. My main points of note: - Moss is pretty ridiculously strong to down Akakabuto like that, not that it lasted for long. - I dunno why Gin and Riki (Gin especially) are so happy to see abusive old Gohei. - Akakabuto standing up against the rising sun is pretty awesome. - The two iron rules of bear hunting are pretty much the rules of surviving a horror movie. Don't just assume shit is dead, people. - I hate when they scream 'zetsu tenrou battouga' as they perform it. It's very DBZ-ish. - I like that John snarls at stupid Hidetoshi, but I also would have expected Gin to be a little happier to see Daisuke, and rush to him the way he did to Gohei... he has far more reason to love Daisuke than that drunk old man. - What authority does Gohei actually have to say 'Futago Pass belongs to dogs now?' I don't remember him owning the land at the beginning. I feel like... people would really disagree with that, what with it being a a ski resort. So the main arc finally comes to an end. Great job, everyone! I can't wait to read the wolf arc!

I still can't believe you've all come this far. The series isn't over, and I know that, but this is certainly cause for celebration. It's been roughly three years since the inception of this site, and admittedly I wasn't sure how long this place would be around, but I'm more than happy I decided to have some faith in you all. You've done more than anyone else that came before, so hold your heads high. The team here puts so much effort into their work and in helping make such a great community that goes beyond blue, spinning dogs with head balls. I truly appreciate that you're all in this for the long haul. Thank you so much for all the good work you do here.
Now onto the chapter.
The anime adaption stuck pretty close to the manga, so I'm happy for that. I liked the speech from narrator man when Akakabuto was knocked down the first time. It was rather touching. What I don't like was how Riki kind of became a babbling lunatic at the end of it. I know he wants to protect his son, but this is a character that was built up to be the strongest man ever with the highest level of dignity and grace. I feel like the anime actually did better sticking to the idea of Riki, having him give an impactful speech as he went out instead of...well this. He could've warned Gin, said his words, and then died in a less frantic way.
I'm amused that this series has only taken a year. It feels like forever.
LET'S GO WOLF ARC!

Also, love how Riki essentially died because Riki and Gohei forgot the basic rules.... Smooth. That actually didn't sit well with me, either. It seems too convenient that such veterans would just forget something like that against Akakabuto of all bears. Like Yoshi just wanted to rush into Gin being leader or something, but eh... I won't read too much into it. It's just a bit disappointing. Though I never thought the anime version made sense, either, with Riki just leaping blindly into a strike. He seems to have lost his brain for a minute in both versions. But I digress. Overall I have surprisingly little to say about this chapter. I do like the detail that Akakabuto essentially killed himself, though, with the whole bleeding out from moving too much thing. I dunno why it stood out to me, but I just thought it was kinda cool. I guess because it's nice to know Gohei was the cause, since he had the most beef with Akakabuto, so it's only right that he helped out even after being excluded from the whole series. I kinda wish Daisuke had gotten to do something more meaningful too, as a callback to his and Gin's partnership and overall bond. The beginning just built up the human involvement so much that it's a bit jarring to me that they had such nonexistent parts by the end. Even the Gohei thing was overturned by Akakabuto randomly going zombie. Oh well, just personal thinky thoughts. Big thanks to everyone who's supported us to make it this far, and to those on the team who helped make this a reality! We couldn't have done it without either party.

Great job, everyone! I can't wait to read the wolf arc! In regard to seeing that "abusive old Gohei", I like to point out something. According to GDR as well as earlier chapters of GNG, Gohei uses abusive tactics to train them so they survive feats no normal dog can. Example, Gin used that training to defeat Kurotora by nearly drowning the Kai dog. He also surviving drowning to death when the passage tunnel he was in was flooded with water. Addictionally, Riki survived the "previous" encounter with Akakabuto with nothing more than a few scars and memory loss. In short, they owed their lives to him.

RIKIIIIII I wish to dedicate this song to our fallen hero: When I first watched the anime I just had the feeling that Riki would die in the end, and I was so sad when I saw it actually happen. Same now. Goodbye, supreme commander, I shan't forget you! Not much else to say in this regard. But the most important thing I want to say is a huge THANK YOU to the whole GS team! You finally finished the Akakabuto arc of GNG, which is an incredible feat by itself. Not only that, you built an amazing community from scratch, and managed it wonderfully until now, which is even more amazing. You are all such great people and deserve more praise than I could ever convey in words. Love you all. As for the comparison with the anime, well, I admit I liked the anime better. Contrary to what Kit says, I actually liked the part where Riki blindly jump against Akakabuto, because he's sacrificing his life for that of his former owner. It's not some brain freeze, he knew it was his only option if he wanted to save Gohei. Which is far more epic than a single hit from Akakabuto while he wasn't looking. Also this: I gotta say it's interesting to see Riki foreshadowing the wolves... I always liked his very sentimental speech to Gin in the anime, so I'm a little sad that more sentiment was not included. Yeah, let's call it "interesting". That was a major letdown, I didn't like Riki's final "speech" one bit. It's SO out of character, that I feel like Yoshi just wanted to add a cliffhanger for the Wolf arc in the worst way possible. But I'll let my wife say it: I feel like the anime actually did better sticking to the idea of Riki, having him give an impactful speech as he went out instead of...well this *nods* And for these reasons, I was a bit disappointed by the manga. This is one of the very rare cases in which the anime was actually better. - I dunno why Gin and Riki (Gin especially) are so happy to see abusive old Gohei. I stand my ground, and keep saying that Gohei cares about his dogs a lot, much more than the average person. First piece of evidence: when Akakabuto supposedly kills Riki in the first part of GNG, Gohei goes mad and crawls towards Akakabuto with only a knfe. Which means he loves Riki enough to throw away his life just to try to avenge him. Shortly before, he cuts his own leg to feed Riki. I don't know a lot of dog owners who would do that and not the opposite. Second piece of evidence is right in this chapter: when Akakabuto rises after Gohei shoots him and strikes Riki, he worries about Riki first even though the bear is about to kill him. Again, proof that Gohei cares about Riki more than he cares about his own life. He might be abusive, but that's because he really thinks it's in his dogs' best interest and maximizes their survival chances.

Though here the anime has some thing that was better then the original manga. Still I like it. First Riki says ZTB is from the bear-hounds, then changing it to it's from wolves. Guessing he hope to live long enough so they've never use it again. But facing death, he had to give a warning.

LET'S GO WOLF ARC! I was actually thinking the same thing about the anime portrayal. Riki's death here wasn't nearly as well done I thought. Like, you spend the whole manga being told how he's such an indestructible badass who survived falling from a cliff and being buried alive, but then he gets killed with one hit to the back. Ben's injuries were WAY worse it looked like, getting his head crushed, but he kept going. Same with Akatora. So the fact that Riki basically got bitch-slapped to death (by Yoshi standards, at least) seemed pretty dumb. I liked how in the anime he had to have all his organs squished together in order for him to die. It just seemed more appropriate. With this version I was just kind of like: Dafuq dude?
