In the thirteen chapter, on page 189 it says "Jumbo's eyes" instead of "Jumbo's eye", 'cause it was ripped off earlier. I'm reading it right now!

Kosuke (I think that's his name) should relax. His dog got his leg ripped off and all he can think about is revenge? At least they won. Poor Black Satan, though. He only wanted to defend his owner. Thanks for the update.

I love how Jumbo got to eat chocolate, when it's well-known that chocolate is notoriously bad for dogs, lol. Jumbo x Yamato OTP. The potty humour surrounding Jumbo and Kosuke though... when Kosuke started running after his dog trying to pee on him... WTF? :srslyoffendedplz: Another typo, that I hope you don't mind me pointing out, is on page 131 (Chapter 12), it says "sheds" when it should be "shreds". x3; I agree with 乃ĿŌŌƉȲ₭ȲŌŪƧĦĪṜŌ that Kosuke really shouldn't be bent on revenge at this point - or at the very least he shouldn't bring his severely wounded dog with him on his escapades. Maybe Jumbo would follow him anyway, as they're both two hot-headed characters, but still. They're so hot-headed that they become incredibly stupid, which in turn is really annoying. Yet again, thanks to all of you who took the time to work on this!

Yet again, thanks to all of you who took the time to work on this! Not at all! Poitning out any errors helps for when we have to reupload the file for downloading, so thanks for that, I'll make a note of it to fix in the future :biggrinplz:. Also, I agree. Kosuke was one of my favorite characters until this... "character change." I would even understand getting the revenge, but wanting to shoot Jumbo, refusing to go to him when he's near death and begging for you, demanding he comes over to you or else you'll hate and leave him... there's absolutely no reason for that, and acting like it was perfectly fine aside from Ryou giving a "I'm taking Jumbo away from you if you do that again" made it seem like the story was trying to shrug off how someone who was against abusing animals, someone who went through thick and thin with his dog, can just act so repulsively with no explanation for why he'd even be so hateful towards Jumbo. I really did like Kosuke, but after that I can't stand looking at him.

Yeah, Kosuke was kind of a lovable character to me as well, at first - though I don't like the humour that he and Jumbo provides (really, that kind of humour in any of Yoshi's stories feel... out of place to me, not because I think that there shouldn't be any humour at all in his stories, but rather that this sort of really immature humour doesn't go too well with the sort of rather serious/dramatic stories of his, but that's just me), he certainly had a sort of charm to him, but after the things you mentioned transpired I can't say I like him anymore, either. A shame, really. : /

Oh yeah, I don't pass toilet humor on as humor, especially when that's all that's used to try and get a laugh. I'm just sad that Yoshi felt he had to do something to try and make Kosuke look serious, but instead managed to make him more like a sociopath

Yyyyeah, I'm not sure taking immense joy in burning animals alive with a home-made flamethrower and laughing at their screams is the sign of a healthy individual. Don't get me wrong, I understand what they did to Jumbo, but... that's a little further than just revenge. I don't understand how you can go from "You should never hurt an animal if you call yourself a good person!" to "BURN ALIVE, DOGS!!!" Sure, Kosuke... Try not to get whiplash from that abrupt 180 you just did. In response to the conversation in vol 2's thread... Toshio is lawl. It MIGHT get elaborated on, later... like way later, when we don't care, anymore... because I remember a scene that I didn't read when skimming the series, where: Ryou came to Toshio's house to give him a peace offering in light of a recent event. Instead of accepting it even snidely, Toshio just literally threw it back in his face, which led to a big scene with Ryou yelling at him in a fairly rare display of anger. So MAYBE we get more of a reason... but probably not. Unfortunately I avoided reading pretty much everything so that I would experience it with the rest of you and not end up accidentally spoiling anything, so we'll have to wait and see.

The more I read of Yamato, the more nonsensical it gets. Yoshi just adds in characters just to (almost) kill them off, and like everyone stated...what the heck is up with Jumbo's owner? Did he suffer brain damage? He must have, which would explain his sudden cry for revenge...I actually felt worse for Black Satan than anyone else. I could understand wanting to put Jumbo out of his misery, but it seemed pretty certain that he would be okay. I also don't understand Yoshi's logic of tossing in and out new characters...does he have ADD and must discard or introduce new characters in order to keep the story interesting? Because I'm sure there are other ways to advance a story...such as actually having character development so we don't have 180's. General rule of good fiction: never make the antagonist more sympathetic than the heroes. Seriously, Black Satan was just Hachiko and his packs' horrid deaths...ugh.

I think Yoshi had a kind of whimsical "series of short story-like adventures all tied in to a backbone plot" approach in mind, but I agree it gets pretty damn nonsensical. Almost disturbingly so, at times, due to all the strange scenarios prompting horrific deaths (Hub and Jack the tiger killing each other in the most gruesome, painful ways possible for pretty much no reason...)
The Black Satan thing... Yeah, I don't even know what to do with that. I know they didn't know he was just guarding his owner's bones, but with Kosuke's scary turn of character in that chapter I don't think it would have turned out any different if they had. And Yoshi's lack of emotional input on the situation via Narrator Man or any of the characters can really leave you questioning if this was supposed to be portrayed as a positive outcome or not.
Yoshi, sometimes I worry about you... Okay, more than sometimes.

So far I am actually impressed by Shiroi Senshi Yamato in the way that I didn't know much about the series beforehand, so it has definitely peaked my interest. But Kosuke just becomes downright scary this volume! I felt horrible when he used the flame thrower on the dogs to be honest. It's just... so out of character, especially how he has such a strong connection to Jumbo but as soon as he is rendered "useless" as a fighting dog, he considers shooting him.... wut.
I liked Black Satan story. It is a little cliché, but Yoshi hardly let the story develop o.o it might just be me, who is a super doberman fan/geek, so I was happy to see a dobie, who was.... less bad...ish.

Yeah, the dogs burning really got to me, too. I know it's fiction, but damn... Yoshi, you're supposed to like dogs, y'know. And I get that Kosuke was supposed to be talking about Jumbo's honor and how he wouldn't want to live as a cripple because of fighting dog pride, rather than just how he would be useless in the ring, but it still doesn't make the scene any better. I know the whole "I want to see him come to me on his own" scene was the same idea, too, but... yeah. The only one I see no rhyme or reason to is the whole trucking into a mountain with your dog who just barely survived bleeding to death maybe an hour ago, for some stupid revenge against animals. And then the taking joy in killing all of them in possibly the cruelest way, and taking joy in doing so, when just a few chapters ago you were preaching about how hurting dogs is the lowest of the low. That's... I don't even. I liked Black Satan's story, too. It was pretty sad, even if it was unpolished. And yeah, it was really cool to see another Yoshi Dobie who wasn't a villain. I think he's only the first of 3, spanning all the way to GDW. They're all minor characters, though... I'm glad you like SSY! It's my favorite story so far.
