GNG is coming along great, and I just got done reading the last few chapters of volume seven. We're at the final battle now!
But, there was something in the Kisaragi arc that I wanted to ask you about. Nothing too big, just some small detail I noticed.
I was thinking about how Chibi (young Tesshin, the little Kurojaki kid) was found in the forest after the Ohu dogs couldn't find him down in the gorge. When Ben asks where Chibisuke, is and Pochi says that he doesn't know - they thought they saw him there a moment ago but now they couldn't find him.
But, if he was down in the hole with him, how did he get up out of the hole and far enough away without anyone noticing, not even the hundreds of guards stationed around the edge?
He was the son of Kurojaki, so he might have been taught a couple of things when his father was around, but I don't see how his short-lived training would have helped him any. Besides, how would a tiny puppy climb all the way up there and get past men that even the Ohu army - full grown dogs, big and powerful - couldn't even get past themselves?
Maybe a kinder soldier said that babies don't deserve to starve to death, and, thinking of the enemy as a cruel killer, decided to spare him and let him run. This could have been possible since Chibi didn't speak to Kisaragi's sons until they hurt him, so he might not have spoken to this dog either.
Or did he just get away before the other dogs went into the hole? But why would he leave when he knew he was in enemy territory, and was probably told to stay by Moss or another babysitter at the time? And why would that sitter let him leave the pack anyway?
There might have been a reason that he ended up meeting Kisaragi's sons, but it might have been more for plot convenience than anything.
Also, does Chibi have any role later in GNG, so it would make sense that he would have to witness Terry's death and for Yoshi to put that whole scene in there? Would he end up looking back upon Terry being a "real man' and suddenly become full ninja (or something)?
Thanks!
