DAMMIT 乃ĿŌŌƉȲ₭ȲŌŪƧĦĪṜŌ, YOU STOLE MY JOKE. Posting it, anyway...  Seriously, nothing in this story made sense or had any standing of what it was supposed to be. Apparently environmentalist 'humans ruined it' message = random facts about why bears and wolves don't fight and a bear killing people. What was even the point? What was the point of Chibi? He never bonded with Ichirou or had any importance. And yeah, why are we mentioning this Emperor wold out of nowhere? If everyone's afraid of him and he's a big deal, don't you think the story should've revolved around... him? Rather than just bringing him up at the last second? Just a thought, Yoshi. I can't even form an opinion on this story outside of "bad" just because it was an incoherent mess that had no idea what it wanted to be or accomplish. |

It was really intresting to read. Sure, a bit to quickly from start to end of story. But still a good message in it. Sounds like what's about to happen in Sweden. The (pleasure)hunters are really after killing all the wolves (and most other predator as well)...

This one-shot has some of my favorite art. I'm super excited to read it in my native language. I'm sorry that I had to drop this project back in the fall but at least it's done. Thank you, Kit and Rascal!

Ah yes, that was amazing. Boy goes into the woods, brings back a wolf pup and no one objects to it. Then a Jehova bear comes knocking and wrecks everyone but the boy, so the pup calls for help from the feared emperor dad and a group of wolves take down the bear. The pup leaves and the boy realizes how amazing nature is, and then probably dies of hypothermia since the houses are destroyed and everyone else around him is dead.
Now that's a story! :lookofshock:

I honestly didn't see what was wrong with it.
The wolf pup was helped by Ichi, so when the bear attacks the puppy helps the family by calling madly. Seemly out of nowhere, the bravest pack of wolves-lead by one the humans have seen traces of and dubbed the emperor (for having the biggest pack in the area)-go against their instincts (wild animals rarely fight for little reason or to the death, wounds ruin chances of survival) and attack the bear.
The pup leaves with his real family, his debt to the humans repaid in full.
Its all about "being in this fight for life together".

Oh, yes, we all understood the general summary of it, the problem was the story was so short and just ended. Like Kacchuu no Senshi Gamu's ending, it left us with not much to honestly think about.
Thirty-four pages is pretty short, so even though we knew about the wolves in the area, the Emperor bits came at the very ending and then Chibi left before we could even see him do anything with Ichirou. He just bandaged his wound and fed him and took him back to the cabin, lol.
But there's a difference between knowing what was happening in the story and an opinion. If you liked it, I'm glad you did! I'm also glad we finally were able to do this mysterious little story, I'm just sad that we didn't get to see much of the small cast or events happen for longer like Ichirou and Chibi bonding like Daisuke and Gin did, or knowing more about the Emperor or his pack and what they're doing during the harsh winter against other bears and human hunters.

Wasn't bad, but like most Yoshi stories, it just falls short. Not to mention it's just BEARS VS. CANINES for the hundredth time - we need to make a Bingo card list full of Yoshi tropes. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't as good as it could have been, in my opinion.
I love the artwork though, so that's this story's saving grace.
Also let's give this story too much credit and say in the meta-verse where everything is Ginga, these are the ancestors of Reima/Gaia >_>
Or maybe Hyouma, because he has that 'mane'.

Good lord, Yoshi REALLY hates bears, doesn't he?
Lmfao, 'the Hokkaido wolves are three meters????' Yoshi also has no concept of normal animal sizes. Hokkaido wolves were tiny! Not even the biggest Arctic wolf is ten freaking feet long. That's legit Bengal tiger-sized. I do like the very retro artwork, though.
Strange little story. I liked (the also very strange) Moon-Kid better. Thanks for the translation, team!

nah hokkai wolves were about mainland sized. honshu wolves were tiny. but ten meters? yeah i had to see if anyone caught that. and THEN yoshi confuses the extinction dates for the two. smh yoshi
