I thought we should have a thread to discuss and share all of the material and covers of the ongoing special compilations. I'm moving comments here that have to do with them, so pardon if any of the posts are out of order.
Please share anything you have on the volumes, too! More pics means more pretty details
just make sure if you're sharing from another site that they are okay with their picture being placed around on the internet.
I'll post the info on each here, so people can see all the covers and their special goodies inside in one post. Our English scanlations of each volume will be releaed individually in the Uploaded Scans section, as all of our work is.
Volume 1 - The Birth of Weed
The original title of this volume is "ウィード 誕生 (Uiido Tanjou Hen)" which is "Weed's Birth - Compilation" or "The Birth of Weed - Compilation." It was released March 4th, 2015. This book starts at the very beginning of the series and ends at seventeen chapters, right as soon as Daisuke is going to Ohu to look for Weed, whom he is sure is Gin's son. This is right before P4's debut. It contains a page of a little story summary, with another page of character bios right next to it. In the back, the end of the story, there are preview summaries about the next upcoming volume that begins at P4's arc. There are then advertisements for Ginga Densetsu Akame, GDW:Orion, and other stories that are being distributed by My First BIG Special. "My First BIG Special" is the name of the releasers, not the publisher. The "Special Interview" is called the WANdafull Life in Engrish; it's a pun because WAN is the Japanese onomatopoeia a dog makes, for a bark. The interview with Yoshi is four pages long, and flanking it are two pages for dog breed info: Weed as the Akita Inu, and GB as the English Setter.
Volume 2 - The Monster of the Stronghold (1 / First)
The second volume has Ken on it, and is named "牙城の怪物上 (Gajou no Kaibutsu - Hen Ue)" which is "The Monster of the Stronghold - First Compilation." (上 for volumes literally means "before, in front of.") As we've said before, "kaibutsu" is not P4's name, it's literally them calling him a monster, not a nickname. Gajou also is the word for a stronghold, it is not a fancy title, so calling it "Stronghold" in Japanese when you can just translate it into "the Stronghold" is kinda Engrishy. It has seventeen chapters, and the dog breed info page has Ken for the Great Dane breed and Kagetora for the Kai Ken, in this volume. The Yoshi interview is four pages, and the ending has the same exact advertisements of Ginga found in the first book.
Volume 3 - The Monster of the Stronghold (2 / Last)
The third volume with Kagetora on it is named "牙城の怪物下 (Gajou no Kaibutsu - Hen Shita)" which is "The Monster of the Stronghold - Last Compilation." (下 for volumes literally means "right after, next.") It was released on April 24th. It also has 17 chapters, and a dog breed page about Smith the "Spaniel" breed ( He doesn't specify what Spaniel.) and Mel for the Golden Retriever breed. The interview in here is 5 pages long. It ends with the same advertisements and promotes the fourth compilation, the "Hougen, the Supreme Ruler Compilation," which was released on May 22nd.
Volume 4 - Hougen, the Supreme Ruler
The fourth volume is named "覇王・放玄編 (Haou Hougen - Hen)" which is "Hougen, the Supreme Ruler - Edition/Compilation." Apparently this one came with a sticker. I am unsure on additional details but once the latest three volumes I purchased arrive, I'll fill this out. I still haven't done the green text and features previewed at the front, I'll update this once I've done it.

The fifth volume goes by "ジョンよ さらば！編 (Jyon yo Saraba! - Hen)" which means "Farewell, John! - Compilation/Edition." The larger pink text on the cover says "To protect my friends, I must become a demon!!" or "I must become a demon, in order to protect my friends!!" I am unsure on additional details but once the latest three volumes I purchased arrive, I'll fill this out.

The sixth volume is "男気！狂四郎編 (Otokoge! Kyoushirou - Hen)" which means "A Chivalrous Spirit! Kyoushirou Edition" or "Kyoushirou, the Chivalrous / Courageous Spirit! Edition". The big orange text reads "Will hatred or friendship obtain an end to the deadly fight?!" I am unsure on additional details but once the latest three volumes I purchased arrive, I'll fill this out.
Volume 7 - Tesshin, the Kouga Ninja Dog
The volume was announced in volume 6 and was be released on August 28th. The text is "甲賀忍犬・哲心編 (Kouga Ninken Tesshin - Hen)" which is "Tesshin, the Kouga Ninja Dog - Compilation/Edition."
Volume 8 - Kamakiri's Scheme
This was released on September 2015. The title is "カマキリの策略 (Kamakiri no Sakuryaku - Hen)" which is "Kamakiri's Scheme/Ploy/Tactic - Compilation/Edition."
Volume 9 - The Zetsu Tenrou Battouga!
This was released on October 2015. The title text is "絶 天狼抜刀牙！編 (Zetsu Tenrou Battouga - Hen)" which is "Zetsu Tenrou Battouga (Wielding the Severing Fang of Sirius) - Compilation/Edition."
Volume 10 - The Fatal Showdown! Tesshin vs. Genba
This was released on November 27th. The title is "死闘！哲心ｖｓ．玄婆編 (Shitou! Tesshin vs. Genba - Hen)" which is "The Fatal Showdown / Mortal Combat / Deadly Battle! Tesshin vs. Genba - Compilation/Edition."
Volume 11 - Toubei's Change of Heart
This was released on Christmas Day of 2015. The title is "闘兵衛の改心!編 (Toubee no Kaishin - Hen)" which is "Toubei's Change of Heart / Toubei's Reform / Toubei Makes Amends - Compilation/Edition." The little blue text says "This spirit of mine had once been abandoned..." The big blue text says "As a man, he cannot accept defeat!!" It also means 'to fall', which fits since Toubei refused to fall down while dying.
Volume 12 - Father and Son Reunite?!
This was released on January of 2016. The title reads "父子再会！？編 (Fushi saikai?! Hen)" which is "The Father and Son Reunite?! - Compilation/Edition."
Volume 13 - Weed Vs. Hougen - The End
This was released on February of 2016. The title reads "ウィードVS法玄 決着編 (Uiido VS. Hougen Kecchaku - Hen)" which reads "Weed Vs. Hougen - The End/Conclusion."

It could be the angle screwing with me, though. Other than that detail, I think it looks great, even though they're still devolving to the stagnant backgrounds, which makes me a bit sad.
