alpha yeah that makes sense if it was due to his strength. But Lloyd was a commanding officer? I thought he was just sent to be a messenger with Jaguar and nothing else was said about him.

Yeah, I was thinking about a theory about this that I kinda wanted to make into a comic...
I think Chutora must have done something awful or became a villian during the time jump. Terry is even still mentioned in future chapters, but never Chutora. Bad guys aren't usually remembered, not counting Kurojaki, and Chutora never shows up in heaven/the death river (When john and moss died), but hyena does because of his dying to save Ben. For Chutora to not show up makes me think he must have done something really really bad. The only place we ever see him is the ending credits of the anime but even there, he's covered by the light colors.

I think I read somewhere that Chutora died prior to GDW, although how he died is still a mystery. His lack of mention in GDW is likely due to him not really having a more prominent role in GNG (namely the manga). Well that or Yoshi just love characters with 1 eye.

Chutora is only mentioned to be the deceased father of Shoji, Buru, Dodo, and Shigure when they are introduced.

Something I thought about just now... how come pups that were given a collar not choke once they're grown and still wear the same collar? Riki got his black collar at the age 3 or 4 months, but is still seen with it on after the 3 year jump in Dentetsu Riki. Even in the beginning of GNG and that's when he's 8!
Then Kotetsu has it as a little pup all the way to GDWO, where he's bigger.

Speaking of puppies, what I thought while reading the Kai brothers backstory

Man: "I have three incredibly rare and healthy dogs of a very sought-out breed! Instead of selling them for lots of money, I'll abandon them in the middle of a forest in a box."
Ben: "I found three helpless puppies while hunting with my master! Instead of leading my master to them, I'll tell them good luck and leave them all alone for weeks!"

It's a good question for younger dogs, but Riki was hunting dog. Gohei Takeda obviously resized the collar. Or gave him a new one. GNG/GDR takes place in time when people didn't buy collars for their dogs, they instead bought pieces and made the collar themselves.

It's said for there to be 5 kai pups. The owner kept 2, and abandoned 3 other. It makes even less sense.

Well, given that only about 2-3% of them are important to the Ginga plot from start to finish, I could see why.
